Seven Sisters
2008
monotype and mixed media
11" x 7"
The sisters looked upon what was theirs, one great rancho, now seven. They knew the fight to keep their land would be a great one. Fortunately, their cause was well funded by a bumper crop of ripe navel oranges and sweet bud.

To honor their Dominguez family heritage, the sisters held an annual re-enactment of the legend of the founding of Mexico city. This year, creative license was taken by Sister Margaretta, who was a huge Koons fan. In his honor, this year the cactus would be an inflatable pool toy--to be contemporary, and hip, and a bit cynical--how she fantasized she was. She just hoped someone around would get it and appreciate her for her guillotine wit.
